SOMEONE ELSE’S GARDEN

In his garden there’s an apple tree

It grows sour apples small and green

He doesn’t pick the fruit he lets it fall

But he picked me the bitterest fruit of all

But I’m no fool

I won’t be cruel as his heart hardens

He can see

He’ll never eat sweet fruit from someone else’s garden

This is someone else’s garden

You’re in someone else’s garden

Hard days done in evening sunshine

He drinks easily from a glass of wine

He cannot hide his will is fading

It dulls his eyes and his heart is fading again

But I’m no fool

I won’t be cruel as his heart hardens

He can see

He’ll never eat sweet fruit from someone else’s garden

This is someone else’s garden

You’re in someone else’s garden

As the evening fades to night

And the stars pull down the sky

We will drink a little fire

We will spit and scratch and fight

I will hurt you

You will cry

You accuse me I’m a liar

This is someone else’s garden

You’re in someone else’s garden
